Product Details

Indulge in the exquisite beauty of marble inlay jewelry box and inlay boxes. Also known as "Pietra Dura" or "Parchin Kari," marble inlay work is a meticulous art form that involves the delicate inlay of colored gemstones, minerals, and shells into marble. This technique has a rich history, originating in ancient Rome and later being introduced to India by Emperor Shah Jahan during the Mughal era in the 17th century. The Taj Mahal is one of the most famous examples of marble inlay work and was built as the tomb of Emperor Shah Jahan's beloved wife, Mumtaz Mahal.

Marble inlay work is still practiced in India, particularly in Agra, where the Taj Mahal is located and where this product is created. Our marble inlay boxes and inlay jewelry boxes are meticulously crafted by skilled artisans. First, the golden stones were cut to the desired size and shape using a small hand-carving tool. Then small holes or grooves are created in the base marble. The stones are then carefully placed into the holes, often with the help of a special adhesive.
