Marble Lotus first came to life in Soni’s mind—in October of 2022. She was in the middle of decorating her home and kept searching for pieces that reflected her—her Indian American identity, her aesthetic, her roots—but everything she found felt like it belonged to someone else’s story. The design world had plenty to offer: Scandinavian minimalism, Japanese wabi-sabi, Bauhaus geometry, even fusions like Japandi. But when it came to South Asian design? The story usually ended at “boho,” with very little nuance or depth.

So, she started building what she couldn’t find.

Inspired by the textures, architecture, and rituals she’d grown up with during her countless trips to India, she began dreaming up what a modern South Asian design brand could look like in an American home.

That was the seed. And now, almost three years later, it’s wild to look around and see what that idea has grown into:

  • Over 700 products, thoughtfully curated across 10+ categories
  • Our own interior design studio— @marblelotusinteriors —which brings our aesthetic to life in real homes
  • Kala Yatra, our cultural immersion experience in India, which invites people to explore the country’s design legacy beyond the typical tourist path

And now—something Soni had been dreaming about for a long time—our first-ever physical Showroom & Studio in San Francisco.

Showroom Office

After years of working from her dining table, couch, or that one sunny corner of the apartment that made for good Zoom lighting, walking into this new space feels… grounding. Energizing. Real. There's something so powerful about seeing the brand come to life in three dimensions—watching people interact with the pieces, imagining their own homes filled with South Asian-inspired design that feels fresh, elevated, and personal.

This studio isn’t just a showroom. It’s a space for creativity, conversation, and community. A place to collaborate, co-create, and connect over chai and colour palettes.

We’re endlessly grateful to everyone who’s been part of this journey—our community, our vendors, our collaborators, our tiny-but-mighty team. Thank you for believing in this vision.

We’re just getting started. But wow, what a beautiful beginning.
